On the first episode of my 1977 Airstream Trade Wind renovation, my uncle Jason comes in with his sawmill to save the day.
We get the propane line out (there was no propane hooked up, so it was safe), drop the water tank, and get pretty dirty. Then, I get a little creative in taking down all the walls and closets (hint: I use my body as a weapon). I get some exciting mail, take apart the interior a little further, and start to get the floor out in the back to reveal the plumbing.
On the second episode of my 1977 Airstream Trade Wind renovation, we FINALLY jack up the airstream and level it. I had been saying for weeks that I wanted to do it, but finally it happens.
My uncle Joseph, behind the scenes, takes out the subfloor while I’m on vacation. Then the real hard and monotonous work begins - grinding the stuff away from the frame in order to assess it! Also, storing the cushions, talking to some kitties, and introducing more people in my family that continue to help along the way.
On the third episode of my 1977 Airstream Trade Wind renovation, I’m taking out the insides.
Like surgery, but arguably grosser. I get some help from Dean, a few uncles, and a sawzall. I also struggle (a lot) to get that last sheet of the belly pan out, and fail miserably. But! Lots of progress. Very exciting stuff.
